What to expect on Sunday

Early Childhood (3-year-olds - Kindergarten)

Early Childhood (Ages 3 – Kindergarten) – There are several activities your child will participate in: Free Play, Story Time, Craft, Recreation, and Snack time.

Drop-off Process

When entering the classroom the children are invited to participate in the free play activities.  The activities are designed for interaction between teachers and children while creating an enjoyable learning environment, and to help ease any separation anxieties they may experience.

Free Play

There are a variety of activities offered during Free Play such as: play dough, play kitchen, train table, reading and puzzles.

Story Time

Our Bible story presentation uses a variety of mediums such as drama, puppetry, felt boards, etc., and includes several interactive questions with the children.

Craft

Your child will do a fun craft that pertains to each day’s story.

Recreation

The outdoor enclosed play area or the indoor gym used for 15 – 20 minutes during each service.  Large muscle activities such as hula hoops, balls and rolling carts are used in the gym.  The outdoor enclosed play area has a sand box, a play structure with slides, and tricycles.

Snack Time – goldfish, cheerios or pretzels

Crackers, goldfish, Cheerios, or pretzels and water are served as a snack during each service.  Some teachers will bring other snacks that pertain to the day’s story.  If your child is allergic, please note this during the check-in process.

What should I bring for my child?

A coat (if necessary), training pants (if necessary), and a Bible.

Will my child have a snack?

The Clubhouse serves crackers, pretzels, goldfish, or Cheerios and water.

Will my child be leaving the room?

We structure the hour to include a time of large muscle activity. These activities may include the outside play area or the indoor gym.

When does my child go outside?

We will take children outside to the enclosed play area for 15 minutes each hour if it is not raining and the temperature is greater than 55 degrees and less than 80 degrees. Please bring a coat and whatever you would like your child to have if he or she goes outside during the lower temperature days. For warmer temperatures please remember to apply sun screen to your child(ren).

What happens if my child is potty training?

Please notify the person who is checking in your child at the Clubhouse Check-In area as they will place a blue sticker on your child’s nametag. This sticker will signal the teacher that your child is potty training and needs extra reminders to use the restroom.

Does my child have the same teachers each week?

Knowing relationships are important in children’s spiritual development; our teachers attempt to be as consistent as possible. Most classes have at least one weekly teacher.

Will my child be using paint and markers?

Occasionally your child will use washable markers and washable paint with close supervision of the volunteers in the room. We use paint smocks when needed.

When does my child move up to the next class?

You can move your child up to the next class on his or her birthday. If necessary, we offer an 8 week grace period for you to move your child up to the next class.

How many kids can I expect to be in my child’s class?

We try to keep a maximum of 20 children per classroom. The average is normally between 10 to 15 children per classroom.

How will you contact me if I am needed?

If your child is experiencing severe separation anxiety or behavioral issues, you be given a pager at the Clubhouse Check-In area. If your child typically does well in class and suddenly becomes ill or is seriously injured, we will come and find you.
